The Alabama State Parks System was formed in 1939 and this year marks the 75th Anniversary of the system. In honor of their anniversary another geocaching challenge is being done within the State Parks of Alabama and fully supported by Alabama State Parks.

Alabama State Parks have supported and encouraged geocaching within the parks and we need to thank them for allowing us to enjoy geocaching while visiting and enjoying these great parks. Please be sure to obey all rules and regulations while inside the parks whether you are geocaching or not.

What is the ASP Diamond Treasure Challenge, you ask. The challenge will consist of eight unique caches at eight different state parks. As a part of the challenge, you will need a passport. You can retrieve a passport by clicking on this link. These are stand-alone caches that are to be logged individually but are also a part of the ASP Diamond Treasure Challenge. The cache is located at the posted coordinates but may take some time to find or to access the log once the cache is located. The caches that are part of the ASP Diamond Treasure Challenge are meant to be ones that will challenge you and are not park and grabs.

You will have to go to each of the caches with a passbook ( Download) and stamp the passbook with the stamp within each of the caches. Once the passbook is completed, then one has to figure out where to go to turn in the passbook and receive the trackable geocoin that is only available from completing this challenge. However, there will be only 75 coins available therefore only the first 75 to complete the challenge will receive a coin.

Tail of Coin Now the story behind the Diamond Quest Challenge and the names have been change to protect the innocent, if there were any. Now, this be my yarn about the great Diamond Booty (Treasure) of all time. There be a mighty king, King Boreas, who ruled one of the greatest kingdoms ever known to mankind. This king ruled with an iron fist and all enemies fear him greatly. The King fell for a beautiful lady that he was making his new bride and Queen of his kingdom, OHail to the Queen, Lady Gem. To impress his new Queen, the King sent out his couriers in secrecy with his best soldiers to scour all ends of the earth to find the best of everything. He want the best gold, silver, rubies, emeralds, sapphires, pearls, amethyst and diamonds for the best crown jewels ever known to mankind. His couriers had finally gathered all the needed items and were heading back to the great kingdom.

Rumors had abound about the missions of the couriers of the great King about the great treasures they were gathering but everyone was afraid of the king and his soldiers even though many thought about trying to relieve the couriers of their treasuries. It would be like going into the lionslair unarmed after the treasury.

Now as fate would have it, there be a red headed scallywag was struminn along in the forest in the land of the tigers and eagles that feared no man or beast. It happened to be January 14 and he be Searching4Fun, so he decided to relieve the courier of his booty gathered for the great king. Now this red headed scallywag be a very cunning and devious scoundrel. What he was going to do would be like David against Goliath. Now the red headed scallywag, his trusted man, Big John, and his small gang of the Chewacla Forest did what no one thought could be done. They hoodwinked the courier and his guards out of the booty of diamonds and Goliath fell again. Tall tales are still told about the way they pulled of the heist. Now the great King was furious and demanded his diamond treasure back along with the heads of the beep-beep red headed scallywag, Big John and the rest of the ettakrewe. It has been years no one has been able to find the red headed scallywag, his gang or even more important the diamond treasure. Finding the diamonds appears to be harder than finding dragonfeathers.

Rumor has it the red headed scallywag took the eight diamonds with each of the diamonds was over 200 carats a piece and buried them in chests throughout the land of the yellowhammer. No one has been able to find hidden diamond booty but in a last chance effort, rumors have it the Director of Evil has done it again. A smarky, funsize member of the gang, Sassie Lady, has spilled the locations over a barrel of grog with the Director. So now the map has been stolen and the rush is on to see who is brave enough to try to find the Diamond Treasures and claim the final treasure. The question now is canucachethis challenge?
