The present church at St Davids was referred to by John Betjeman as 'the finest example of Victorian church architecture in the south west' and was commissioned by the then vicar, the Rev C J Valpy-French, and designed by W D Caroe (the company is still in existence today).
The construction of the current church was completed in 1900 using limestone. The building sits on the same footprint as an earlier church on the same site.
There have been some issues with subsidence at this church, contractors were on site in 2016 to carry out underpinning works on the building.
