In 2002, Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation's Habitat Trust Fund together with Saskatchewan Provincial Government's Fish and Wildlife Development Fund (FWDF) purchased these 7 quarter sections of land in the McLean area. The land has been set aside in perpetuity to provide habitat for wildlife.
The Habitat Trust Fund was established in 1978 for the purchase, retention and enhancement of critical wildlife habitat across the province. The fund continues to preserve as much land as possible for wildlife and for future generations to enjoy. Here at McLean, schools from Regina and surrounding areas have used these lands for survival training, snowshoeing and other outdoor pursuits.
The land parcel at McLean provides excellent habitat for a wide range of wildlife. While you're out looking for this cache, watch for moose, whitetail deer and perhaps even elk. Don't forget to keep a sharp eye out for ruffed grouse, snowshoe hares and white-tail jack rabbits. Enjoy your time here walking among the poplars, beaked hazel and choke cherry trees.
NOTICE: In accordance with the new Provincial Trespass Act, we ask that any non SWF members please contact permission@swf.sk.ca for written permission to access SWF lands. Existing members already have written permission on their membership card. Please visit www.swf.sk.ca for more info.
