Church Micro #4498 - St John the Evangelist Multi-cache

redirected male: The time has come I feel to step aside from this cache I'm afraid. I can no longer give this the attention that it may require so I think it's in everyone's best interest if I let it go. I very much hope that someone more local takes up the mantle though and keeps the number alive.

The Parish Church of St John the Evangelist, is the only place of worship in the neighbourhood. It is in a quiet residential area, a short walk from the town centre. The original church, built in 1867, was severely damaged in 1942 by fighter-bombers and only the tower remained intact. Services were held in the Parish Hall in Meads Street until the present church building was dedicated in April 1957.

Inside there is an array of ceiling plaques depicting scenes from the Bible, including Nativity, Old Testament and the Life of Jesus. These run across the entire ceiling of the church above the pews.

If anybody would like to expand to this series please do, I would just ask that you could let Sadexploration know first so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names to avoid duplication
