Geocache Description:

Mull: Aros River bridge
A delightful walk along a forest trail.

The Aros River rises on the northern slopes of Beinn nan Carn to the south, and flows north and east through Glen Aros to enter the Sound of Mull near Aros Castle, 1 mile north of Salen.

The MacDougall chiefs build Aros Castle in the 13th century to protect their lands from marauding clans. It was a MacDougall property for 400 years, until the Campbell of Argyll took it, along with the MacDougall lands.

Given good conditions Aros River sees runs of salmon and sea trout in late June, with salmon runs continuing through July to August.

The cache can be gathered in isolation, or as part of a fine circular walk through the forest.
