Geocache Description:

This is part of our series of caches inspired by the songs of Pink Floyd.

Congratulations to GeoLarry777 for the FTF!

BA 330 Module

North Las Vegas may be known for many things (and not all of them good), but directly across from this cache is an aerospace company's manufacturing, fabrication and test facilities for the next generation of orbiting laboratories and living space. It also houses one of their four mission control centers.

With the proliferation of private companies into the space business, NASA continues to look for cheaper and better ways of doing business.  In 2015, a Falcon 9 launch vehicle will transport an inflatable module to the space station where it will be attached to the International Space Station and tested to see whether it can protect astronauts from the radiation of space and the impacts of space debris/meteroids traveling at hypersonic speeds.

Should the program prove successful these new inflatable modules could form the basis for having a semi-permanent colony on the moon.

"Interstellar Overdrive" was one of Pink Floyd's first forays into what was known as "space rock" coinciding with man's entry into space in the 50s and 60s.  The song appeared on their debut album The Piper at the Gates of Dawn and was nearly 10 minutes in length.  It originated when Pink Floyd's manager was trying to hum a song and Syd Barrett tried mimicing it with his guitar.  Its abstract, free form section was inspired both by Frank Zappa and The Byrds' song, "Eight Miles High".

Geocaching should be fun!
