Geocache Description:

This is one of a pair of caches hidden in Farrington Woods, the city of Danbury's newest preserve.

This easy hide is just off the white trail, which starts out along a woods road adjacent to the parking lot.(Coordinates below.) The container is a medium-sized lock 'n' lock hidden in a conventional manner. Nothing at all tricky about this one. Figure on a round trip of approximately 2 miles to seek this cache and his companion, Josie. Although the path is wide and the route is mostly level, I have set the terrain rating at 2 1/2 because there are a lot of loose rocks underfoot, and it can be easy to turn an ankle if you do not have appropriate footwear. It was especially tricky at the time the cache was hidden, because the trail was covered with leaves in many places and it was impossible to see the loose rocks underneath.

This preserve comprises 192 acres of the Isabelle Farrington property which the city of Danbury acquired for $1.65 million in 2010.The entrance road runs along the New York-Connecticut border, and conservationists hope the town of Southeast will one day acquire the 200 acres on the Putnam County side of the line.

What's in a name? Isabelle Farrington must have been a lady of some import; the school of education at Sacred Heart University is named in her honor. If you are wondering about the significance (or insignificance) of the name of this cache, see the explanation inside the front cover of the log book.
