Welcome to Martinique!
The cache is located on the International Airport of Martinique (Aimé Césaire Airport in Lamentin). This way it can be accessed by any flying visitor to the island, either upon leaving or arrival. The parking is free if you stay less than 15 minutes.
LE SITE : Le premier aéroport de l'île a été construit sur le site actuel en 1949. Puis il a connu des agrandissements en fonction de l'accroissement du trafic et le développement du tourisme. Mais les travaux de rénovation majeure ont eu lieu de 1991 à 1995 donnant le jour au visage actuel de l'aéroport.
L'aéroport a une capacité d'accueil de 2,5 millions de passagers par an, en 2011 il a comptabilisé un total de 1,7 million de passagers. Ce chiffre devrait continuer à augmenter étant donné les efforts qui sont mis pour accroître et favoriser le tourisme dans l'île.
LA CACHE : Une partie du site de l'aéroport comporte des ruines des anciennes cases de l'usine du Lamentin qui ont été préservées puis aménagées en bureaux et salles de réunion annexes à l'aéroport, créant ainsi un charmant îlot de verdure sur le site. En allant chercher la cache vous passerez à proximité de ces petits bâtiments qui étaient l'ancien emplacement de la cache. Amenez votre crayon!

THE SITE : The first airport on the island was built on the current location in 1949. Then it has been expanded several times according to the traffic needs and the tourism increase. But the major renovations that gave to the airport its current aspect took place between 1991 and 1995.
The airport capacity is 2.5 millions of passengers yearly, in 2011 there were 1.7 million of passengers, but it should continue to increase given all the efforts put to promote tourism on the island.
THE CACHE : On a section of the airport site, there are historic ruins of the Lamentin old factory. They were preserved and accomodated for offices and conference rooms annexed to the airport, creating a charming little oasis on the site. You may pass by this area when you will go for the nearby cache. Bring your own pen! (BYOP)
