Geocache Description:

The Haunting of Kitty Hollow

The killing began on a full moon, less than a fortnight before All Hallows Eve. Rumors of sightings of strange creatures on the edge of the woods spread through the community. Many gave them no credence. Why should they? Nothing like this had ever happened before.

The first victims had gone out for dinner at a local eatery in the shadow of the woodland of Kitty Hollow Park. As they left the restaurant, they heard the sound of howling coming from the trees to the north.

"I think somebody's dog must of got loose from the dog park. Let's see if we can find him", he said.

"Are you sure? The sun has already gone down", she asked.

Unconcerned, he led his family into the darkening timberland to call out to the dog. As they entered, the trees seemed to close in around them. It was as if the woods had suddenly come alive. They realized their error when they heard the deep guttural growls. Only the child managed to escape, though when asked about what happened, she could not give voice to words.

Over the next several nights, rescue parties were organized to search for survivors and kill the evil creatures that have taken over the park. They searched each night, following a seldom used path that led them deeper and deeper into the wildwood. Each night a party went out and each night few, if any, returned. Those that did survive told horrifying accounts of their ordeal. It was not just one creature in these woods. There seemed to be countless numbers of them.

Night Seven - The Brides of Dracula

Deep into the woods, the seventh night of searching took them. The trail led them far beyond where the other parties had been. Through the trees they could see a group of three women and one man leaning over another man lying dead on the ground. One of the searchers gasped audibly at the horrific scene and suddenly the attention of the murderers turned toward them.

The man in this ghastly group pointed toward the rescue party and spoke to the women by his side. Amazingly, the man transformed into a large bat and disappeared into the canopy above. The sisters turned toward the search party and bared their fangs! They were vampires!

The fight was incredible; the living dead women each had the strength of ten men. Several of the party lost their lives during the attack but as fate would have it, one man had worn a silver crucifix for protection against evil. He confronted these Brides of Dracula with it causing them to reel back away from the emblem. While they were distracted, the remaining men of the party made their last desperate attack. They had no stakes to drive into their hearts but there were plenty of large sticks in the area that were perfect for the task. The vampiresses were defeated.

Suddenly, the bat above screeched loudly and flew off to the North.

As your search begins, know that this area is inhabited by creatures both meek and savage. There will be slithery beings with neither arm nor leg, creatures of flight that would feast on your blood, and even plants that would attack you unexpectedly if you are not wary. This journey is not for the small of stature nor faint of heart for dangers await within these woods.

Travel between each location in the series is best done by bike in the grass along the greenway outside the South and West sides of the park but can be done by foot as well..
