Zgadnij, kim jestem? Moje początki to przeobrażenia geologiczne; pod wpływem wysokich temperatur i wysokiego ciśnienia oraz związanych z nimi procesów chemicznych. Co jednak dużo ważniejsze: powstałem na skutek prawie całkowitego zmielenia na miazgę skały pierwotnej. Moim "geologicznym środowiskiem naturalnym" są strefy uskokowe, tylko tam występuje odpowiednio mocne tarcie. Z kolei moimi ulubionymi kolorami są jasnoszary, szary, żółtawy, brunatnawy ale i czerwonobrunatny. Odznaczam się wyraźną teksturą kierunkową - doprawdy, potrafię być... piękny. Należę do skał rzadkich, spotkasz mnie głównie w podstawach Alp, ale również w Polsce: w Górach Sowich. Cóż tu kryć, jestem przystojny, dlatego stoję obok Centrum Nauki "Kopernik". Moja polska nazwa... kojarzy się z pewnym przyrządem do pisania.

Who am I? I originate from geologic transitions – high temperature, high pressure and accompanying chemical processes. What’s even more important: I was created due to an almost complete grinding of the primary rock. My “geologic natural environment” are fault zones, where friction is strong enough. My favourite colours are light grey, grey, yellowish, brownish and reddish brown. I’ve got a typical directed texture – oh yes, I can be beautiful… I’m a rare type of rock. You can find me at the foot of the Alps, but also in Poland, in the Owl Mountains (Góry Sowie). No need to deny it, I’m a handsome hunk of rock. That’s why I was placed next to the Copernicus Science Centre. My Polish name brings to mind a… writing tool.

Rate mal, wer ich bin? Mein Anfang liegt in der geologischen Verwandlung, genauer gesagt entstand ich unter relativ hohen Temperatur- und Druck-Bedingungen wie auch den damit verbundenen chemischen Prozessen. Was nicht weniger wichtig ist, ich entstand aus einem anderen Ausgangsmaterial, der völlig zermalmt wurde. Mein "geologischer Habitat" sind Verwerfungszonen, nur dort ist die Reibung stark genug. Meine Lieblingsfarben sind hellgrau, grau, grau-gelb, braun und rot-braun. Ich bestehe aus feinkörnigen Bestandteilen, habe eine ausgesprochen deutliche Lagentextur - nun, wie ihr seht, sind dies durchaus Hauptkennzeichen eines Schönlings. Ich bin recht selten anzutreffen, grundsätzlich ist die Alpenbasis mein Domizil, doch auch in Polen, in Góry Sowie (früher Eulengebirge) bin ich zu Hause. Tja, ein Beau wie ich verdient durchaus einen Sonnenplatz, sagen wir, direkt neben dem Wissenschaftszentrum "Copernicus".
