This is your chance to see what a mature forestation project looks like. In the midst of the empty antiplano, suddenly you come upon a forest at 3,895 meters/ 12,778 feet above sea level. It's on the other side of a crest of rock from the town of Casa Blanca. (Casa Blanca was built in 1998 and is visibly more modern than other towns in the district.) This forest has 4 kinds of trees. Two are non-native: pine and cyress. Two are native trees that naturally grow at this altitude: quenual and quisua. How are the native trees different from the pines and cyress? What adaptation do you think they have made to this environment? Notice the different scents of the various trees.
On the west side of the forestation project, there's a hacienda. It was built around 1960. In its day, it managed the land all around here, before the forest was planted. Although many of the original structures are falling into ruins, a family continues to live here.

En medio del Altiplano vacío, de repente se encuentra con un bosque en 3.895 metros / 12.778 pies sobre el nivel del mar. Está al otro lado de la cresta de la roca del pueblo de Casa Blanca. (Casa Blanca fue fundada en 1998 y es visiblemente más moderno que otros pueblos de la comarca.) Este bosque cuenta con 4 tipos de árboles. Dos son no nativos: el pino y el ciprés. Dos son los árboles nativos que crecen naturalmente en esta altitud: kinwal (quinual) y kiswar. ¿Cómo son diferentes de los pinos y ciprés, los árboles nativos? ¿Qué cree usted la adaptación que han hecho a este ambiente? Observe los diferentes aromas de los diferentes árboles.
En el lado oeste del proyecto de forestación, hay una hacienda. Fue construido alrededor de 1960. En su época, logró su dominio en toda la zona, antes de que fue plantado el bosque. Aunque muchas de las estructuras originales están cayendo en ruinas, una familia sigue viviendo aquí.
