Oostergast is een nieuwbouwwijk aan de oostzijde van het dorp Zuidhorn. In 2007 is gestart met de bouw van woonwijk. De naam van de wijk verwijst naar het oostelijk deel van de gast, een historische zandrug uit de IJstijd. In totaal zullen er in Oostergast uiteindelijk 1100 woningen worden gebouwd. Op dit moment is fase 1 gereed en wordt gewerkt aan de tweede fase die ten noorden van de insteekweg naar Zuidhorn komt te liggen. De eerste fase wordt verder omsloten door de Oostervaart en de spoorlijn Groningen - Leeuwarden.

Oostergast is a residential area on the east side of the village of Zuidhorn. In 2007 the construction started of the residential area. The name of the district refers to the eastern part of the host, a historic sand ridge from the Ice Age. A total of 1,100 homes will eventually be built. At this moment, phase 1 is completed and they are currently working on the second phase  Oostergast phase 2. The first phase is further enclosed by the Oostervaart and the railway Groningen - Leeuwarden.
