Geocache Description:

Nemo went diving in the Haigh Quarry and got lost.  There are three caches in the series in various parts of the quarry.  Different skills and experiences may be required to search an area for Nemo.  The coordinates were taken at the surface from a suspended GPS.  They should get you very close!

What better title for a DiveCache?  You know the story…Nemo’s been lost and it’s your job to find him!  Nemo is somewhere in the Quarry.  Nemo is a trackable item that will hopefully travel between any of the three caches in the quarry.  Each Cache in the series can be found on its own, but if you get all three there’s an extra award available. Inside the lid of each cache there is a key word.  When you’ve collected all three keywords, send an email to the cache owner.  Award details will be sent via mail.

The geocache is located within Haigh Quarry in Kanakee, Illinois. The 12-acre quarry, 60 miles (96 km) south of Chicago. It offers divers seven training platforms at 25 feet (7.5 m), and an eighth one at 65 feet (20 m). Underwater features include a large stone crusher, several drills and a conveyor belt, all left from the site’s mining days. Other features are a 33-foot cabin cruiser, which is easily penetrable, and a Marine dump truck.  The park entrance is at 2738 East 2000 North Road.  www.haighquarry.com  The park is open generally from 8am to 5pm, closed on Tuesday’s and broader hours on the weekend.  Check the website to be sure.  Park fees of $20 per diver or $10 per non-diver are required. (Subject to change without notice.)

Dori remembers seeing and talking to Nemo, now if she could just remember where.  She thinks it was on the left side of the beach, where the waters are shallower, it was maybe 100 yards from the beach, and 50 yards from the rock crusher, or maybe not.

You seek a clear plastic nut jar, which is meant to be left under water.  A slate is there for you to log your dive.  There may be some items to trade as well. The original marker has been muggled. Bring your own marker to sign the slate.
