There has been a Baptist Church in Waterlooville for nearly 150 years but the building in this site dates from the 1960s redevelopment of the town centre when the old Victorian church further down London Road was knocked down to make way for the new precinct and this land given to the congregation instead. The architect was the renowned Michael Manser of London, and the construction is similar to a factory with steel beams and grey brickwork inside and out due to the constraints of cost at the time of building. The new church was dedicated on 8th April 1967.
It is probably best to avoid Sunday mornings as there will be lots of muggles and nowhere to park - unless you wish to join in the lively family worship service at 10:30, of course. Further details can be found on the church's own website at www.waterloovillebaptist.org.uk.
The cache has been placed by kind permission of the Church Secretary, who has also indicated that people are welcome to park on the premises while looking for the cache as long as their vehicle does not impede other users of the building.
If anyone would like to expand to this series please do, I would just ask that you could let Sadexploration know first so he can keep track of the church numbers and names to avoid duplication. There is also a Church Micro Stats and Information page found via the Bookmark list.
