Geocache Description:

Nice easy cache not too far from Teigngrace. Please do NOT attempt this by parking close to the bridge as you will block the lane. There is a pull in nearby - please use this or park down on the main road and walk up. I would not recommend this cache for wheelchair users.

PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN PEN - LOG MUST BE SIGNED! :-)

Lovely old bridge here going over the Newton Abbot to Heathfield railway branch line which opened in July 1866 and closed to passengers in 1959. The infrastructure however was left in place and various freight operations have used this line over the years. The most recent of these was the contract to remove diseased larch tree logs from nearby plantations. This contract has now come to an end and hopefully, in a few years time, passenger trains will run once more. A local action group has been set up to reinstate this railway line, that runs between Heathfield and Newton Abbot. For more info, go to: http://www.heathraillink.co.uk.
