The bridges of Rovaniemi are among the most notable landmarks of the city. The given coordinates lead you to a place, where you can position yourself in front of two bridges of Rovaniemi and have a webcam photo taken of you. However, to find out the coordinates of the actual cache, you need to study the history and facts about the two Rovaniemi bridges in the “Sillat” webcam.

And then, where is the cache?
To conclude the latitude of the final coordinates, you need to know the day when the bridge in the background was opened for traffic for the first time minus the number of lanes on that bridge. To conclude the longitude, you may find help knowing the year when the railway bridge in the foreground was destroyed by the Germans, and also the altitude (above sea level, with the first decimal) of Ounaskoski beneath the bridges.
The coordinates and the description leading to new calculations have been updated on 27.9.2023 to reflect the position of the cache more accurately. If you have solved the coordinates before that, you may end up a few metres away from the actual cache, but once you get to the place, the obvious cache stand is quite easy to locate.

At the final coordinates you will be introduced yet to another view of Rovaniemi city. The location has changed somewhat since the cache was originally placed at what used to be a public campfire site.
