Linnosaari on mielenkiintoinen, täysin luonnontilainen saari keskellä Valkeakoskea, Putaanvirran ja Apianvirran välissä. Se on osin muinaismuistoaluetta ja saaren korkeimmilla kohdilla voikin nähdä merkkejä muinaisista linnavuoren varustuksista ja röykkiöhaudoista.
Itse kätkö ei ole muinaismuistoalueella vaan lähellä pohjoisrantaa, mistä satuin löytämään paikan joka suorastaan anoi geokätköä luoksensa. ;)
Saarelle EI pääse talvella jäitä pitkin virtauksen vuoksi, jäälle meno on hengenvaarallista. Ainakin leudompina talvina sinne voi rantautua hyvin esim. kanootilla ja veneenkin voi laskea Kirkonrannan rampista vesille. Kesällä voi hyvä uimari uida saareen Apianniemen puolelta, uintimatka lyhimmillään noin 50 metriä, toisella puolen menee vilkas laivaväylä eli sillä puolen ei parane uida. Apian leirintäalueelta voi halutessaan vuokrata kanootin tai veneen, yhteystiedot waypointeissa. Linnosaaren rannat erittäin kivikkoisia, sopivia rantautumispaikkoja on käytännössä kaksi, jotka löydät alta waypointteina.
Ensimmäiselle löytäjälle kätkössä on aktivoimaton geokolikko. Kätkössä on myös kaksi CITO kittiä, ottakaa mukaanne. Ja toki muutakin vaihtotavaraa niinkuin asiaan kuuluu :) Kätkö on siis talvilöydettävä mutta saarelle pääsy riippuu talven leutoudesta..
Geocache Description in English:
Linnosaari is an interesting island, totally in natural state, in between streams of Putaanvirta and Apianvirta. It's partly ancient monument site and in the highest places of island you can see marks of ancient fortress and graves.
The cache itself is not in the ancient monument site but close to northern waterfront, where I happened to find a spot that really demanded to get a geocache. ;)
During winter you can NOT walk on the ice to island, because the stream on both side of island makes the ice life-threatening thin. At least during mild winters you can go to island by canoe or boat. In Kirkonranta theres a boat ramp that you can use. During summer a good swimmer can swim to island, the shortest route, 50 meters, is from Apianniemi. Do not swim from the other side as there is a busy boat / ship route. From Apian Camping you may rent a canoe or boat, contact details in waypoints. The shores of Linnosaari are very rocky and there's basically only two suitable places to go ashore, both are in waypoints.
For the first finder there is an unactivated geocoin in the cache. There's also two CITO kits, feel free to grab them. Of course there's also trade items, as in every cache should be :) The cache is winterproof but the access to island depends on the mildness of winter.
