Geocache Description:

Well TT talked me into us putting another series out and this time we it’s Ramsden, Oxfordshire on the north-eastern edge of the Cotswolds and 4 miles north of Witney.  A lovely village in a very pleasant walking area.

Happy caching!!

Series Description:

Not difficult and is a good one for all the family to enjoy, about 3.8 miles and should take about two hours, so let’s go for some R’n’R in the countryside and go to Ramsden ‘n’ Ramble!

A family series through lovely woods and fields with only one short stretch of very minor road on well marked paths and bridleways.  No hints will be given as to the theme as that would spoil the surprise!  Needless to say they are all disguised film containers, except for one disguised Bison tube.  Loads of wildlife in the area – we saw deer, fox, rabbit, buzzards, kites, woodpeckers and, we believe, a wild pig!

There are nine caches in total fairly evenly spaced, the series starts and ends at the end of Wilcote Lane in Ramsden where there is parking for a couple of vehicles.  There is also a lovely country pub just down the road.

Should be okay for dog cachers, there are only a couple of styles but for that reason I’m afraid isn’t buggy or disability friendly. The only animals encountered were sheep.  There are a couple of stretches across fields but these have been clearly marked by the farmer but may get rather muddy in wet season!

This Cache:

From the suggested parking in Wilcote Lane, this is just a starter close by to get you in the mood. This is the first of the series and is a film container inside something else that contains just the logbook. Please ensure it is securely returned using the necessary appendage!

After this cache go back to the official road ends and the path sign is to the left as you look away from the village and is labeled ‘Wychwood Way’. Head into the field and follow the path round to the right (not straight on) and into the woods with a gate marked with both ‘Cotswold Way’ and ‘Wychwood way’.

At the end of the woods go through the gate and round the side of the wood straight down (not to the left) then at the end of the wood there is another gate onto a minor road.

Our thanks go to TheBadgerGang for adopting this set when we moved away, enjoy! Stucuk & TT.
