Geocache Description:

This cache is a 35mm film pot placed at ground level. Unfortunately, this cache is a long way from the road so it is not accessible by wheelchair cachers.

This cache is placed close to where Captain F. A. Varley sat during WW1 when he painted The Gas Chamber at Seaford.

I was at the Sussex Military History Society's Study Day, held annually, at Newhaven Fort recently (Saturday 24 May 2014) and saw five excellent talks & presentations on WW1 topics; the theme for this year.
Two of the presenters included The Gas Chamber at Seaford painting by Captain F. A. Varley in their talks.

It was immediately obvious that the background showed Cuckmere Haven.
But where was the gas chamber?

Then, one of the presenters, Luke Barber, said: "Wouldn't it be great if [after almost 100 years] we could find its location!".

Well! I love a challenge, and decided to find it.

And now you can too.

To find this cache, you need to:
- examine the attached picture of The Gas Chamber at Seaford;
- find the approximate location where Captain F. A. Varley sat when he painted it;
- add 0.010 to the northing;
- subtract 0.013 to the easting; and
- search your calculated location, nearby.

The cache location should be fairly obvious.
If not, the additional hint should make it even more so.
