Lochwinnoch station was originally called Lochside (hence the name of the cache), but was renamed Lochwinnoch in 1969, when the line through the village was closed. The original station in the village has disappeared under a housing development, but the old line now forms part of the Johnstone to Glengarnock cycle track.
There is no parking at the GZ, please use the train, however parking is available nearby in the station car park or at the RSPB visitor centre.
