Geocache Description:

In grateful memory of the Hungarian arcitects of Corinth Canal.

We placed this cache while our holiday in Greece.

(Emese, Viki, Tündi, Dóri, Gréta, Réka, Fruzsi, Jani, Andris, Csabi, József, Ferenc, János, László)

Visit this beautuful place and the monument and remember the Hungarian Architects.

Text on the monument:

"In grateful memory of the Hungarians

István Türr (1825 - 1908)

and

Béla Gerster (1850 - 1923)

who planned, organized and directed the construction of the Corinth Canal, a masterpiece of 19th century engeneering.

This successful undertaking stands as a permanent monument to Greek - Hungarian relations and as inspiration to all future generations.

With great honour and respect to those who participated in the construction 1881 to 1893."
