Geocache Description:

Gunung Lambak, 510m (1673 feet) above sea level, is located 5km from the town of Kluang. It is an easy climb as there are pathways and wooden bridges there to help make climbing easier. Or just come to the midway point for this cache!

From the main carpark, you can choose to trek up 2 separate paths which leads to the 2 peaks. For the more popular trail, head straight on the cemented trail which will bring you past waterfalls and the start of the ascend. The peak can be reached between 40-90 minutes, where you can enjoy views of the east side of the town. Thereafter, you can continue to "cross the mountain". You first descend down the trail behind the telecommunication tower on the peak, head down for about 10 minutes, divert to a left trail which leads to the next base for the second ascend to the next ridge. This trail will look scary, but really, is steep but easier and shorter. Once you reach the 2nd peak, take a right trail for your final descent.

The recreational forest located at the foothill of Gunung Lambak is a favourite picnic spot for many visitors. Toilets, benches, resting sheds and other facilities can be found there. You can go to the river near the waterfalls and enjoy a refreshing dip in the waters there. You can also spot a lot of wild monkeys hanging around the base!

The geocache is at the midway point of the first trail, which is what the locals called "half way hill" of "tea station". It is called the tea station because supposedly one very nice uncle will trek up this "half way hill" and prepare Chinese and English tea together with snacks for trekkers as refreshment free of charge almost every morning. There is a fountain (and a deserted fountain next to it) next to the hut where the tea is being prepared. There are also plenty of benches for you to catch your breath and a huge sign for a pic! The cache is at a slightly higher ground from all of the above described.

As the GPS coordinates may not be accurate in the forest, please see hints and spoiler pic for the tree where the cache is at!  After signing the log, do continue up to the peak(s) and it would be great if you could take a pic there and post it here! :)

PS. I (used to) come here every other weekend (which is about twice a month) I am in town, so you never know, we might bump into each other while I'm checking on the cache! ;)

Directions to the foot of the mountain:

From the North South Expressway (NSE),  take the Ayer Hitam exit (Interchange 244) then turn right after toll onto the Kluang - Jemaluang trunk road (Highway 50),  headed towards Kluang town. Follow 12 o'clock when you reach the first roundabout. Follow 12 o'clock when you reach the second roundabout on Jalan Mersing. Turn right at traffic light on Jalan Abdullah. You should be able to see the mountain on your 2 o'clock. There should be brown signs indicating "Gunung Lambak". Gunung Lambak Recreational Forest is close to Kampung Dato' Abdul Rahman Yassin,  just south of Kluang town centre.
