Arne Karlsson Traditional Geocache

Arne Karlsson wurde am 4.8.1912 in Stockholm geboren. Er war ein Mitarbeiter der schwedischen Flüchtlingsorganisation "Rädda Barnen" und er hat die Aufgabe erhalten, die über 600 Flüchtlinge, die nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg über die Grenze nach Berg und in die umlegenden Ortschaften geflüchtet waren, zu versorgen. Er starb am 11.6.1947, als er nach Berg fuhr und bog irrtümlicherweise und fuhr in Richtung des russischen Besatzungsstützpunktes. Der russische Soldat sah das Auto und meinte dass in dem Auto, welches das schwedische Kennzeichen hat, ein Spion war. Er fang zu schießen an und umbrachte Karlsson. Die Frau und das Kind Karlssons, die also in dem Auto waren, überlebten. Der Körper der Karlsson wurde nach Wien gebracht und am 19. Juni im Wiener Krematorium eingeäschert.
Unmittelbar nach dem Tod haben die Einwohner Bergs an der Todesstelle ein Holzkreutz aufgestellt. Das Denkmal wurde im Jahre 1961 gestiftet und im Jahre 2007 restauriert.

Arne Karlsson was born on 4th August 1912 in Stockholm. He was an employee of the Swedish refugee organisation "Rädda Barnen" and received the order to take care of over 600 refugees who, after World War II, fled across the border to Berg and surrounding villages. He died on 11th June 1947 when, on the way to Berg, mistakenly turned and drove to a Russian occupation base. The Russian soldier saw the car and thought that there was a spy in the car. He began to shoot and killed Karlsson. His wife and child, who also travelled in the car, survived. Arne Karlsson's corpse was transported to Vienna and cremated on 19th June at the Vienna crematorium.
Immediately after his death, inhabitants of Berg erected wooden cross at the location of this tragic incident. Karlsson's memorial was built in 1961 and restored in 2007.

Bol pracovníkom švédskej utečeneckej organizácie "Rädda Barnen" a dostal za úlohu postarať sa o viac ako 600 utečencov, ktorí po 2. svetovej vojne utiekli cez hranice do Bergu a okolitých obcí. Zomrel 11.6.1947, keď na ceste do Bergu zle zabočil a dostal sa k ruskej okupačnej základni. Tu auto zbadal ruský vojak a keďže malo švédsku značku, myslel si, že to je špión. Začal strieľať na auto a Karlssona zastrelil. Jeho žena a dieťa, ktorí boli tiež v aute, prežili. Telo Arneho Karlssona bolo prevezené do Viedne a 19. júna spopolnené na viedenskom krematóriu.
Hneď po jeho smrti obyvatelia Bergu osadili na mieste tragickej udalosti drevený kríž. Karlssonov pamätník bol postavený v roku 1961 a zreštaurovaný v roku 2007.
