Le temple de Lanhoë est mentionné la première fois à la fin du 12e siècle. C'est à genoux et les mains jointes, que les chevaliers étaient reçu dans l'ordre des Templiers, ici dans la chapelle dédié à Saint Jean Baptiste, comme Philippe de Launay en 1291. Les commanderies en France étaient un point de recrutement pour l'ordre. Après la dissolution de l'ordre des Templiers, la Nouée revient à l'ordre de Saint Jean de Jérusalem en 1312, puis à l'ordre de Malte. La commanderie située dans le corps de bâtiments proche de la chapelle prend de plus en plus d'importance et est unie à celle de la Guerche en 1394. Elle touchait la dîme d'aussi loin que Dinan, Plorec, Plouer, Tramain, Corseul, Plénée-Jugon, ...
Lannouée se situe au moyen âge sur un carrefour d'anciennes routes romaines entre Lamballe et Fougères, Avranches et Nantes, Corseul et Vannes. En 1799 la commanderie est vendue comme bien national. La cloche qui avait été caché par des habitants avant la vente, n'a pas été rendu par la suite, mais trouvé une place dans la chapelle Saint Firmin du village de Trélée. La nef de la chapelle disparaît au 19e siècle, et seul le coeur – probablement la partie la plus ancienne – est visible aujourd'hui.
En 1980 la chapelle est racheté par la commune d'Yvignac et des travaux de restauration entrepris. Des restes de corps ont été trouvées sous la chapelle – s'agit-il des victimes templiers du vendredi 13 octobre 1307 ?
Pour trouver la cache il n'est pas nécessaire de rentrer dans la chapelle, mais sur demande de la clé à la mairie (02.96.86.01.59), vous pourrez la visiter. La commanderie est maintenant une propriété privée - merci de la respecter.
