Geocache Description:

Hey everyone!  Since we had so much fun kicking off the first leg of the Shenango River Water Trail, Why not have another Kickoff Event for the Second Leg?!!

Welcome to the Shenango River Water Trail, a one of a kind geotrail featuring 100 caches placed along the beautiful Shenango River. What a better way to cache and be one with nature than a casual float down river. Become one with the outdoors and let Mother Nature guide you to a relaxing adventure.

This event will be a kickoff event to officially start the second leg of the water trail. It’s been a long process but it’s finally here! So we invite you to come out to Kidd's Mill Bridge Access Area on September 21st, 2013 from 9 AM until???? for some fun, food and floating of course!!! SO BRING YOUR CANOE OR KAYAK!

The plan will be to meet at GZ (Kidd's Mill Bridge Access Area) for the event as normally with an event. At around 9:15 the cache containers for the trail will be presented so you know what to look for and what to do once you've found the caches. From there we will be shuttled up to Riverside Park by the folks at Carried Away Recreation and we will begin the float AT Riverside Park in Greenville and head down the next section of the Shenango River approximately 7ish miles to Kidd's Mill Park Access Area.  At this time we are recommending that you leave your vehicles at Kidd's Mill Bridge and when we finish the float, we will set up and have our potluck shortly thereafter! We will also have other temporaries and other geocaching fun for those who wish not to paddle. A Side Note: There is no electricity or restroom at Kidd's Mill Bridge Access Area, but the local Sheetz is only about 2 minutes away. Please plan your potluck dish accordingly!

We're planning on having the pot luck around 4 o'clock again in order to give folks time to float the river. If not floating and want to just hang out at the event, there will be people at GZ for the event throughout the day and you're more than welcome to just hang out and talk caching. There are caches in the park and we'll place a few temps for those not floating who'd like to pass the time.

PLEASE BRING A LIFE VEST

There will be shuttle service for you and your kayak so you’ll be able to park at the event, be shuttled up to Riverside Park and then float back down to your car and the event

We’re still fine tuning things so more details will be sure to come as they’re finalized so STAY TUNED!

ONE SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT!!! DUE TO THE UNPREDICTABLE NATURE OF WEATHER AND THE CORRESPONDING RIVER LEVEL, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE CHECK OUT THIS LINK AS THE EVENT COMES CLOSER!  IT IS ALWAYS BEST TO STAY SAFE AND USE YOUR HEAD! WE LOVE CACHING, BUT YOUR LIFE IS MORE IMPORTANT.  IF YOU FEEL THE WATER IS TOO FAST OR HIGH FOR YOUR ABILITIES, YOU CAN STILL COME HAVE A GOOD TIME, BUT PLEASE DO NOT ENDANGER YOURSELF.
