La Cava Vecchia di Verezzi
 Verezzi - La Cava Vecchia (detta anche Cava dei Fossili)
era un tempo utilizzata per l’estrazione della pietra rosa di Verezzi ed è stata una delle poche cave di pietra che, nel Finalese, furono coltivate “in galleria”.
L’attuale conformazione è il risultato del crollo dell’intera volta, avvenuto verso la fine degli anni Trenta del secolo scorso. Esso avvenne fortunatamente durante l’intervallo della pausa pranzo, che gli operai consumavano all'esterno della galleria. I minatori più esperti provenivano dalla zona di Barge, in provincia di Cuneo, e dalle Alpi Apuane; molti degli attuali abitanti di Verezzi sono discendenti di quelle vecchie famiglie.
Ancora oggi è possibile scorgere con chiarezza i caratteristici segni lasciati dalla lavorazione con punte di acciaio martellate a mazzetta, lungo le pareti rocciose perimetrali. La cava, oggi dismessa, per le sue caratteristiche che rendono assai suggestivo il sito, unite alla posizione sovrastante il mare, nel recente passato è stata lo scenario suggestivo per spettacoli teatrali.
Il cache: E' un contenitore a metà tra small e regular, nascosto nella parte alta della zona "crollata". Essendo il sito in prossimità alla parete di roccia, ricezione e precisione gps sono pessime. Consultare pertanto foto spoiler.
Accesso: Poco prima dell'abitato di Verezzi, salire a destra la stradina asfaltata seguendo l'indicazione per il ristorante MuMa. Imboccando il sentiero al WP "Trailhead" raggiungerete la cava in pochi minuti.
Parcheggio: A Verezzi ci sono posti sia a pagamento che non. In Alternativa potreste anche l'asciare l'auto sullo sterrato vicino al WP "Trailhead".
Geo-Info: Osservate bene la roccia che dovrete scalare per raggiungere il cache e capirete subito perché la cava viene anche denominata "dei Fossili": Potrete osservare da vicino molti fossili di conchiglie nel conglomerato.
Dopo aver scovato il piccolo contenitore, godetevi la splendida vista su Borgio, Pietra Ligure, Loano, fino all'isola Gallinara.

 Verezzi - the Old Quarry (also named the "Fossil Quarry")
was once used for the extraction of the famous rosy stone of Verezzi and was one of the few tunnel-like stone quarries in the Finale area.
Today's shape and physiography is the result of the collapse of the tunnel, which occurred at the 1930's. Fortunately this accident happened during the lunch break, while the miners were outside of the tunnel. The most experienced miners came from the Barge area, in the province of Cuneo, and the Apuan Alps.
Many of the today's inhabitants of Verezzi are descendants of these old families.

Access: Just before entering the town of Verezzi climb to the right on the paved road following the sign for the restaurant MuMa. Then taking the path from WP "Trailhead" you'll reach the quarry in a few minutes.
Parking: In Verezzi there are some parking lots eitheragaints payment and for free. Alternately you could also leave your car on the dirt road near the WP "Trailhead".
Geo-Info: When you look closely to the rock that you have to climb to get to the cache, you'll be able to determine why the quarry is by-name named "Fossil": You'll be able to see many shell fossils left in the conglomerate.

 Verezzi - Der Alte Steinbruch (auch "Fossilien-Steinbruch" genannt)
wurde einst für den Abbau des Rosa Steines von Verezzi genutzt und war einer der wenigen Steinbrüche in der Gegend, der in Tunnelform angelegt war.
Die heutige Form des ist das Ergebnis des totalen Zusammenbruchs des Tunnels der gegen Ende der dreißiger Jahre des letzten Jahrhunderts ereignete. Glücklicherweise geschah dies während der Mittagspause, sodass sich die Arbeiter außerhalb des Tunnels befanden und somit niemand zu schaden kam. Die erfahrenen Bergleute kamen aus der gegend um den Ort Barge, in der Provinz Cuneo, und die Apuanischen Alpen. Viele der heutigen Bewohner von Verezzi sind Nachkommen dieser alten Familien.
Der Steinbruch ist zwischenzeitlich aufgegeben worden. Heute stellt dieser durch sein charakteristisches Szenario und den wunderschoenen Blick auf die Küste, den man von her aus hat, einen schönen Ort dar um einen Cache zu verstecken.
Der Cache: Ist ein Behälter in der Mitte zwischen Small und Regular, im oberen Teil der zusammen gebrochenen Stelle versteckt. Da der Standort in unmittelbarer Nähe zur Felswand liegt, lassen GPS-Empfang und Präzision ein wenig zu wünschen übrig. Daher Spoilerfotos beachten.
Zugang: Kurz vor Ortseingang in Verezzi rechts die asphaltierte Strasse hoch dem Schild für das Restaurant MuMa folgend. Vom WP "Trailhead" den gemütlichen Weg gehend, gelangt Ihr in wenigen Minuten zu dem Steinbruch.
Parkplatz: In Verezzi egibt es sei es gebührenplfichtige als auch ein Paar gebührenfreie Parkplätze. Alternativ könnt Ihr auch das Auto in der Nähe der WP "Trailhead" parken.
Geo-Info: Schaut euch den Felsen, den Ihr zum Cache henaufklettern müsst, genau an und Ihr erkennt warum dieser Steinbruch auch der Fossilien-Steinbruch genannt wird: Ihr werdet viele Muschel-Fossilien in dem Konglomerat Gestein entdecken.
Nachdem Ihr den Cache gefunden habt, genießt die herrliche Aussicht auf Borgio, Pietra Ligure, Loano, bis zu der Insel Gallinara und das Meer.
