Ce dolmen fait parti d’un ensemble de 5 dolmens répartis autour du village de Saint-Martin du Larzac et de l'ensemble des mégalithes du Larzac septentrional.
Il date de l’age du bronze, il a été utilisé durant deux millénaires au moins.
Ce dolmen compte plusieurs phases d'occupation s'échelonnant du Bronze Ancien au Haut Moyen-âge. Le dolmen initial est élevé vers 1945 av. J.C., limite ultime du développement du mégalithisme régional. A l'Age du Bronze Final, il est radicalement recomposé, certainement en vue d'une nouvelle utilisation funéraire. Au Haut Moyen-âge, il fait l'objet d'un réaménagement considérable : le site est réoccupé comme nécropole.
Ce site a été sans doute bouleversé bien des fois par de nombreux chercheurs.
Ceux que nous connaissons sont en premier l’archéologue E. Cartailhac en juin 1898, puis en 1937-38 un brocanteur de la région, qui fut un véritable massacreur des gisements préhistoriques aux environs de Millau, y découvrit un important mobilier. En 1939 Louis Balsan y ramassa un poignard en métal et, plus tard, une lame de silex. En 1952 Costantini reprenant les fouilles, dans ce qui pouvait rester du gisement, trouva encore quelques pièces intéressantes comme un poinçon en os de mouton, un collier fait à partir de dents de renard, loup, 3 canines de sanglier et d’une incisive de boeuf, un autre collier d’os, un racloir à lame, 6 pointes de flèches, une multitude de perles en os, jayet et calcaire et enfin divers fragments d'ossements humain.
Les dernières fouilles de 1987 à 1993 dirigé par l’archéologue R. Azémar ont fini de livrer les derniers secrets de ce site qui se révéla unique en milieu caussenard.
L'édifice fut inscrit au titre des monuments historiques en 1998.
Au travers de cette cache, vous allez découvrir le site avec un petit jeu de piste.
Pour le premier dolmen garer vous en P1, profiter en même temps que la découverte de récupérer les coordonnées du prochain stage. N’oubliez pas de refermer la barrière et allez vous garer en P2. Désormais tout ce fait à pied de cache en cache. Vous verrez en tout 4 dolmens, le 5ème, je vous le signale en waypoint. Il n’y a malheureusement plus rien à voir, il est sous un tas de pierres, de végétation et de gravas.
Bon jeu de piste à tous, n’oubliez pas de visiter ce petit hameau avec sa belle église et la cache de Sylani.

This dolmen makes left of a set of 5 dolmens distributed around the village of Saint-Martin of Larzac and all the megaliths of northern Larzac.
It dates the age of the bronze, it was used during two millenniums at least.
This dolmen considers several phases of occupation being spread out of the Old Bronze in the High Middle Ages. The initial dolmen is raised towards 1945 av. J.C., ultimate limit of the development of the regional megalithic art. In the Final Bronze Age, it is radically recomposed, certainly with the aim of a new funeral use. In the High Middle Ages, it is the object of a considerable reorganization: the site is re-occupying as necropolis
This site was doubtless upset many a time by numerous researchers.
Those whom we know are in the first one the archaeologist E. Cartailhac in June, 1898, then in 1937-38 a secondhand goods dealer of the region, who was a real slaughterer of the prehistoric deposits in the neighborhood of Millau, discovered it an important furniture. In 1939 Louis Balsan collected a dagger in metal and, later, a blade of flint there. In 1952 Costantini taking back the searches, in what could stay of the deposit, still found some interesting parts as an awl in bone of sheep, a necklace makes from teeth of fox, wolf, 3 canine of wild boar and an incisor of beef, another necklace of bone, a scraper for blade, 6 points of arrows, a multitude of pearls in bone, jayet and calcareous and finally diverse fragments of bones human being.
The last searches from 1987 till 1993 managed by the archaeologist R. Azémar stopped delivering the last secrets of this site which showed itself unique in caussenard environment.
The building was registered in conformance with historic monuments in 1998.
Through this hiding place, you go to discover the site with a small treasure hunt.
For the first dolmen to park you in P1, to take advantage at the same time as the discovery to get back the coordinates of the next internship. Do not forget to close the barrier and go to park in P2. From now on all makes on foot of hiding place in hiding place. You will see in quite 4 dolmens, the 5th, I indicate it to you waypoint there.
