Une cache traditionnelle pour vous faire découvrir un des trois lavoirs de Valence d'Agen. Après sa visite, vous pourrez monter jusqu'au jardin public, que vos enfants ne manqueront pas d'apprécier.

Les trois lavoirs se situent dans le quartier bas de la ville, là où coulaient les sources pures. Les deux plus "monumentaux" (Del Théron et Saint-Bernard) sont inscrits à l'inventaire supplémentaire des monuments historiques depuis 1977.
Le lavoir Saint-Bernard était à l'origine muni d'un abreuvoir. Sa construction, peu après 1807, coïncide avec le comblement des mares du Plaça (actuelle place Jean-Baptiste Chaumeil).

Pour remplacer ces mares trop boueuses que l'on avait comblées sur la place nationale, le Conseil Municipal considéra "qu'il importait d'établir un lavoir public et un abreuvoir pour les chevaux des particuliers et des gendarmes impériaux, au-dessus de la fontaine Saint-Bernard". La construction de ce lavoir fut estimée à 3 500 francs.
En 1924, la toiture semi-circulaire fut rajoutée "pour préserver les laveuses des intempéries de la mauvaise saison". Depuis, le lavoir a connu divers aménagements, la toiture et la brique ont été récemment restaurées.

Si vous êtes à Valence d'Agen un mardi matin et que vous appréciez l'ambiance chaleureuse des marchés d'antan, ne manquez surtout pas celui-ci, il vous ravira sans aucun doute par sa richesse, sa variété et sa convivialité ! L'après-midi, vous pourrez visiter les lavoirs en tout quiétude ... ou du moins, beaucoup plus tranquillement.

S'il vous plaît, replacez tout comme vous l'avez trouvé et veillez à ne pas attirer l'attention des nombreux moldus qui peuvent fréquenter les lieux.
La réception satellite est très médiocre entre les murs : afin de faciliter vos recherches et éviter de paraître trop étrange en cherchant trop longtemps, il vaut sûrement mieux prendre l'indice. Merci pour vos efforts de discrétion et bonne découverte !

A traditional cache to make you discover one of the three washhouses of Valence d'Agen. After the visit, you can walk up to the public garden, that your children are sure to enjoy.

The three washhouses are in the lower part of the city, where the pure springs used to flow. The two more "Monumental" (Del Theron and Saint Bernard) have been listed in the supplementary inventory of historic monuments since 1977.
St. Bernard washhouse was originally equipped with a trough. It was built shortly after 1807, coinciding with the filling of the ponds of the Plaça (now Place Jean-Baptiste Chaumeil).

To replace these too muddy pools that had been filled on the national square, the City Council considered "the importance of establishing a public washing place and a trough for the horses of private owners and of the imperial police, above St. Bernard fountain". The construction of this washhouse was estimated at 3,500 francs.
In 1924, the semi-circular roof was added "to preserve the washers of the bad weather of the winter months." Since then, the laundry has undergone various arrangements, roofing and brick have been recently restored.

If you are in Valence d'Agen on a Tuesday morning and you enjoy the warm atmosphere of yesteryear markets, you just mustn't miss this one: you will no doubt delight in its richness, variety and conviviality! In the afternoon, you can visit the washhouse undisturbed ... or at least, much more quietly.

Please replace the box as you found it and be careful not to attract the attention of the many muggles who can be there.
The satellite reception is very poor between the walls: to facilitate your search and avoid appearing too weird seeking too long, it is surely better to take the hint. Thank you for being stealthy! Enjoy!
