This is the first cache in a series dedicated to my favorite sports moments of all time. In my non-caching free time, I am big sports nut so there are many to go through. To find the caches in this series you will have to research and learn a little about my favorite moments.
The Golden Goal
The hype for the Men’s Ice Hockey Tournament at the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver was off the charts. Everyone was prime and ready to watch the drama. TSN even broadcasted the selection and announcement of the Canadian team with similar broadcasts in the US, Sweden and Russia.
The stage was set...
And as quickly as the hype train left the station, the apprehension of the nation built as Team Canada struggled through the first round. But they made the medal rounds and the real hockey began. The Canadians gelled and moved easily through the first few rounds leading to a very narrow win over Slovakia creating a dream Canada vs US matchup in the Gold Medal game.
With the Canadians leading 2-0 late in the 2nd period, it started to get scary as the Americans came on with a serious charge and the air was sucked out of the country as Zach Parise scored to tie the game in the final minute of the game.
But fear not as the Canadians had one thing the Americans did not, Sid the Kid.

The goal has been routinely compared in significance to Bobby Orr’s ‘The Dive’ in 1970, Mario Lemieux’s in the 1987 Canada Cup and Paul Henderson’s Summit Series Goal in 1972.

D = A famous Canadian Hockey player was named as Executive Director of Team Canada responsible for selecting the roster. If A =1 and Z = 26, what is the number corresponding the first letter in his last name?
E = A veteran defenceman was named captain for Team Canada. What was his jersey number?
F = Two native Winnipeggers played for Team Canada. What is the total if you add their jersey numbers together?
G = How many seconds into overtime was the Golden Goal scored?
