I have hidden this cache to mark the 25th anniversary of Chet Baker: sullen trumpeter, vocalist and rebellious sex symbol of bebop jazz. On 13th May 1988, Baker was found dead on the street below his second floor hotel room in Amsterdam with serious head injuries.
Chet plays it cool
The cache name comes from the title of the 1988 documentary, Let's Get Lost, by Bruce Weber about Baker's turbulent life and career. The film begins on the beaches of Santa Monica but it could just as easily be Sandymount, Dublin.
The cache is NOT at the listed coordinates, but when the tide is out, it's a nice place to get lost.
Chet and Carol Baker, a bit lost
Let's get lost
Lost in each other's arms
Let's get lost
Let them send out alarms
And though they'll think us rather rude
Let's tell the world we're in that crazy mood
Let's defrost in a romantic mist
Let's get crossed off everybody's list
To celebrate this night we've found each other
Let's get lost
Oh.
Let's get lost.
Chet Baker and all that jazz are lost below and you must search for them in order to find the cache.
The cache contains a signed picture of Chet Baker as a FTF prize. It also contains a selection of his finest recordings to choose from.
Please exercise caution when retrieving the cache and be mindful of the Terrain rating. Happy hunting!
