Welcome to Southlands Park!

Located in Warwick Parish this 37 acre national park includes gorgeous woodland, garden ponds, limestone quarry gardens, a spectacular stretch of coastline and is home to a unique collection of natural wildlife and history.

The unique Southlands Estate has a varied history, with the main house being built in 1745 and originally inhabited by the Ministers of Christ Church in Warwick. Towards the end of the eighteenth century Southlands became a limestone quarry and then in 1911 James Morgan of Glasgow purchased the estate and transformed it into a wonderland of quarry gardens, exotic plants, ponds and aviaries. Morgan died in 1932 and was buried on the property in the same mausoleum as his late wife.

Southlands then became the grounds for the Southlands Anti-Aircraft School, with the beachfront being leveled and used as a training ground for US soldiers.

In 2005 the property was purchased by the Southlands Ltd, who's initial plans were to build a five-star resort. Amid public protests against developing the Southlands property, an agreement was made for a land swap. Southlands Ltd made an agreement with the Bermuda Government to swap Southlands for 80 acres of former base land at Morgan's Point in Southampton. In 2012 the deal was made and the process has begun to incorporate Southlands into the Parks Act, which will officially make it a public park.
