The original All Saints church was built in open fields, which explains why it lies below the level of the roads, as these were laid out later. A photograph kept in the church shows the building before the fire of 1927, after which only the tower and vestry were standing. The architects tasked with rebuilding the church, Fenning and Stoneham, did not copy the previous design, altering the arcades and the East window. The Fenning and Stoneham blueprints of the 1929 design, including pulpit and font, are kept in the vestry. They rebuilt it in a conservative Gothic style for the date following the damage. It is a Listed grade II as a church of impressive scale with fine architectural detail, that contributes strongly to its townscape.
In front of the main entrance down to the church are two notice boards and two benches, either in front of the boards or just around the corner. The clues relate to the benches. The 'left' and 'right' labelling of the benches refers to them as if you are facing the church.

Right Hand Bench
F = the number of letters in the surname.
G = the number of letters in his first name plus the last digit of the year of his birth, minus 1.
H = the number of words in the inscription before his name, minus 2.
