Geocache Description:

This cache box is just a little smaller than a baby moon hubcap, which was popular on cars in the heyday of Route 66. This can be a quick park and grab, but this place is worthy of a long leisurely visit.

Wilmington is one of the rare Illinois towns whose main business district is still bisected by historic Route 66. The sparkling Kankakee River and the manmade millrace create two lovely island parks, which you will visit in your search for this cache. Visitors also like to stop and stroll "downtown" on North Water Street, where they find antiques and imports in quaint shops. That’s why we say Wilmington is about antique treasures and outdoor pleasures. Page through the cache logbook, you're bound to find entries from visitors from around the world who are traveling the Mother Road from Chicago to Los Angeles, who have stopped to take a picture with the world famous Gemini Giant or relax with a picnic along the Kankakee River. We encourage you to visit another town in the Illinois Route 66 Red Carpet Corridor, from Joliet to Towanda, and search out another cache.
