[LAT] Ako (Acco) bija Salaspils līvu valdnieks un vecākais, kas ieņēma izcilu stāvokli Daugavas līvu zemē, jo 1203. gadā viņš ar sūtņu palīdzību aicināja Polockas kņazu Valdemāru izdzīt krustnešus no Līvzemes, bet 1206. gadā kļuva par visu līvu sacelšanās vadoni...
Salas (Mārtiņsalas) lībiešu vadonis Ako sāk apvienot cīņai pret augošo vācu varu Daugavas, Turaidas un Satezeles lībiešu spēkus, piesaistot arī lietuvjus. Par vidutāju lībiešu un vācu spēku starpā aicina Polockas kņazu, kurš noliek strīdu risināšanu 30. Maijā pie Ogres upes, bet vācu puse un sabiedrotie uz tikšanos neierodas. Lībieši nocietinās Mārtiņsalā un kopā ar Turaidas lībiešiem un lietuvjiem pošas uzbrukt Rīgai. Tiek nocirsta galva Salas priesterim Johannesam (kristīts igaunis) un nogalināti vēl divi vācieši, par ko daži jaunkristītie lībieši paziņo bīskapam Albertam, un vācieši ordeņa brāļa Arnolda vadībā kopā ar Rīgas lībiešiem 4. Jūnijā ierodas pie Salas. Kauja risinās gan ūdenī, gan pie pils. Kad krīt vadonis Ako, lībieši ieslēdzas pilī, kas tiek aplenkta. Tiek nodedzināta priekšpils, un pēc sīvas cīņas dzīvi palikušie lībieši lūdz mieru. Pilī izvieto vācu garnizonu, ierodas cits priesteris Daniels un pārvaldnieks Gevehards. Kritušā Ako galvu bīskaps Alberts Rīgā saņem kā uzvaras zīmi pār Salas lībiešiem.
1994. gadā Daugavas krastā Rīgas HES ūdenskrātuves dambja galā netālu no šosejas Rīga — Daugavpils tika atklāts Ako piemineklis.

[ENG] Acco was the ruler of the Salaspils Livs and the elder who had an outstanding position in the Daugava Livs land, because in 1203 he sent envoys to ask the Grand Duke of Polotck, Valdemar, to drive the crusaders out of Livland, but in 1206 he became the leader of the whole Livs insurgency.
The leader of the Salas (Martinsalas) Livs Acco started to unite Daugava, Turaida and Satezele Livs forces to battle the growing German power, also by involving the Lithuanians. The Grand Duke of Polotck was asked to be the mediator between Livs and German forces, he set the arbitration on May 30th by the river Ogre, but the German side and the allies did not come to the meeting. The Livs fortified their positions in Martinsala, and together with the Turaida Livs and Lithuanians prepared to attack Riga. Salas priest Johannes (christened Estonian) was beheaded and two more Germans were killed, several newly christened Livs reported this to Bishop Albert, and the Germans, together with Riga Livs, led by Arnold, a member of the Order, arrived in Sala on the 4th of June. The battle went on both in water and at the castle. When the leader Acco was killed, the Livs locked themselves in the castle, which was surrounded. The forepart of the castle was burned down, and after a fierce battle the surviving Livs asked for peace. A German garrison was deployed in the castle, another priest Daniel and governor Gevehard arrived. In Riga Bishop Albert received the head of the fallen Acco as assign of victory over Salas Livs.
In 1994, on the shore of the river Daugava at the end of the Riga Hydroelectric power station reservoir dam, near the Riga-Daugavpils highroad, a monument to Acco was unveiled.
