Slime Pit Cache Multi-cache

This cache has been archived.

Cache-tech: Greetings from Geocaching.com

I have had no contact with the cache owner since my last note and there has been no notes posted to the cache page in that time. While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for you and block other cachers from entering the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time I don’t think we can do so any longer. Therefore, I have archived this cache.
When repairs to this cache are completed and it is time to have it reposted, it will be no problem. Just drop me a note and let me know the GC waypoint number of the cache or better yet, the URL of the cache page. You will still be able to access your cache page just as before by going to your “My Cache Page” and clicking the link (Mine) across the top and then click on this cache.

I will be more than happy to take a look at your cache again to see if it is still is within the guidelines of the Geocaching.com website for cache placement and posting.

I want to thank you for the time that you have taken to contribute to geocaching in the past and am looking forward to seeing your cache up and running in the future.

Thanks for your understanding,
Cache-tech

How Geocaching Works

Geocache Description:

This is a 4 step multi cache in the Rockwood Conservation Area. The first three caches are film canisters and the last is a round, tan, tupperware container. The first three are relatively easy to find and access. The last takes a bit more work. Please bring a notepad and pen to write down the coordinates of the next caches and leave the notes in the canisters if you can.

This multi-cache will take you through the coolest areas of the park. You will see old mill ruins converted to a park, potholes carved by meltwaters from the Wisconsin Glacier, 100 foot flowerpot formations similar to those found at Tobermory, and high cliffs. Stay away from the cliff edges, especially if you have small children with you. There is excellent bass fishing in the park as well as abundant waterfowl. The park has neat caves to explore and a nice beach with rental canoes. To find the caves, keep walking north up the road that leads to the gate cache number three another 320 meters or so. The caves are on the right of the road.

Find the main entrance to the Rockwood Conservation Area at N 43 36.7867 W 80 8.8726.

I advise you stay on the trails as much as you can as it very difficult and even dangerous to bushwack near the cliffs there. However, if you are adventurous and careful, there are a couple of nice lookouts from the cliffs near the final cache. Good luck and be careful! We did have a six year old with us when we planted the caches so it's not that bad!

The cache, when planted contains a measuring tape/level combo, a CD containing Oziexplorer and most of the topo maps of Ontario east of Killarney and south of Sudbury and west of Peterborough, a magnetic key holder, a Mickey Mouse potholder travelling bug, a Launch Music Magazine CD "Third Eye Blind", a magnifying glass, hockey tape and a Fed Ex Keychain!
