De verering van Rochus te Huldenberg gaat terug op een pestepidemie uit 1600. Dankzij zijn ‘tussenkomst’ werd de kwaal overwonnen. De Sint-Rochuskapel werd in 1727 in barokstijl opgericht. Het was in Huldenberg een traditie om, met de halfoogstkermis, de relikwie van St.-Rochus te vereren en zijn beeld naar de Sint-Rochuskapel te dragen. De 'halfoogstprocessie' is de oorsprong van de huidige 3-jaarlijkse Rochusommeganck
