All Geocachers are invited to the June long weekend caching event at Yankalilla on the Fleurieu Peninsula.

Situated 74kms south of Adelaide by road this event will provide three days of fun and caching.
The Yankalilla Football Club, located next to the towns oval, will be the hub for event activities. There are camping facilities nearby for those with caravans and tents. Those quick to get in may even get a cabin.
Event Program
Friday Afternoon
- Setup for those who arrive early.
- Organise your own meals.
Saturday morning 10am
- sign in
- Pay up $25 per team (individual Geocaching team not combined playing teams) for the weekends activities.
- Pay for dinner if attending and receive your dinner vouchers.
then meet, greet and brief.
Each team will be given caches to temporarily place in the playing field, the number will depend on how many attend the event. See Cache Placement below for more details.
A scavenger hunt game will take place on Saturday. If you would like to participate in this you will need a digital camera (or phone camera).
There may be other activities on this day so keep checking back on the listing.
Saturday Early Evening 4pm
- Return to the clubrooms with your cache placement co-ordinates.
- Quarantine GPSrs or Memory cards. (See Reminders below for more details on this)
- Games for kids and adults can mingle and brag about their caching exploits.
- Nibbles provided for those socialising
Saturday Evening 6pm
- A dinner event "Friendly Fleurieu Frolic Dinner Event" at the Football Club for those who have booked.
Sunday Early morning 8:30 am
- Sausage and egg sandwich and coffee/tea at the Football Club.
Sunday 9am
- Event briefing and group photo.
Sunday 9:30am
- Cache hunting to start
Sunday 4pm - All caching to be finished.
- Logbooks and caches returned to Football Clubroom.
- There will be severe point deduction for not being back on time.
- There are points for CITO cachers who bring back bags of rubbish.
- There will be points for picking up your temporary cache after the completion of caching.
Sunday Early evening 4:30 pm
- BBQ meal on the oval. Self - BBQs will be available.
Sunday evening 6:30 pm
- Geocacher's Presentation night

- Basket supper and prize presentations.

You are more than welcome to bring your own water and cordial. The bar will be open over the entire weekend as specified under their license agreement.
Each team should bring a wrapped prize to the value of $10-$15 for the awards cerimony. If you are playing as a combined teams and want each team to receive a prize then bring prizes equal to what you would take.
Please leave your gift when you register on the Saturday.

There will be CITO points awarded for the return of a bag of rubbish per team collected over the weekend.
Geocaching Dinner - Friendly Fleurieu Frolic Dinner Event
A dinner event to be held at the Football Clubrooms. The menu will be Roast Chicken/Beef with vegetables and dessert. Cost $20 a head for adults. Please see event listing for more detail.
Payment wll be at the saturday morning registration.
Cache Placement
There will be caches hidden on the Saturday by those participating in the event. The number of caches to be hidden by each team will depend on the number of participating teams.
The temporary caches supplied to the teams will be hidden on the Saturday and retrieved after the hunt on the Sunday.
Caches placement is to be within the guidelines for placing a Traditional 3 star cache. Whilst clever hides contribute to the event you should be mindfull of the opportunity for people to find a large number of caches on the day. Therefore accuracy in your waypoint is also important . It you have never placed a cache dont hesitate to ask for some advise.
Teams may choose to replace one of the temporary caches with their own traditional cache that will remain after the event. The traditional cache will need to be at a minimum about 10 cm in length. Contents of the temporary cache will be placed in the traditional cache and retrieved along with the other temporary caches at the end of the hunt.
Traditional caches will still need to be listed and approval granted as per GC guidelines after the event. Due to the vagaries of the 160m rule some discussion may be required between teams after placement.
The temporary caches can be camouflaged and there were many great examples of this over the years from interesting plumbing right through to memorial sites and cow pats. The camouflaging will need to be able to hide something the size of a small Milo tin or a rectangular take away food container. Cache dimensions are shown in the image below. The bonus points for best camo will be awarded to the team receiving the most votes from the other teams.
There is also a bonus award for the most innovative hide judged the same way.
The idea of camouflage and innovation is to add fun to the day, not to create a caching challenge that is too difficult for other participants to find. So no micros or specialised equipment to retrieve a cache ie ladder, and the star rating should be under a 3.

Reminders to all event goers
Cachers are reminded to bring a UHF radio and Camera if available.
A CITO cache will be run in conjunction with the main event so don't forget to bring some bags to put the rubbish in you collect.
If you have a PC cable (USB or Serial) for your GPS please make sure it is available for upload and download.
We will also accept memory cards (SD, XD, micro SD, ect.) if you want to retain your GPS for overnight caching. We can also email you the GPX file when the game starts if you'd prefer.
If you would like to keep your GPS for caching on Saturday night (and don't have a memory card) we will be loading game caches on Sunday, however, this WILL NOT happen until after the game has begun. So if you take this option you may end up starting 15-30 mins late.
Also new this year, we will print out, for each team, an A3 sized map with all the game caches marked on it.
If you must bring a dog keep it on a lead and watchful eye.
Dogs are not to be brought into the Clubrooms.
You must clean up after your dog.
The local police will be notified of the event so they will be able to respond to any queries by locals.
We want this to be a safe event for all concerned anyone charged with a road traffic act will be disqualified from the game.
Drive safe and observe speed limit.
There are going to be a lot of children out there this weekend.

Things to do in Yankalilla
Yankalilla Skate Park and Playground – 181 Main South Road Yankalilla.
This facility caters for all ages and is a great venue for a family day out. There is a skate park, and BMX track offering action packed fun for skateboarders and BMXers. A new playground caters for little ones. There are two free electric BBQs under shelter and toilet facilities are available, best of all its free.
Walking & Cycling Trails.
There are many walking and cycling trails in the area from the Historic Walk of Normanville, Bush walking in Deep Creek and Talisker Conservation Park or the cycling from Normanville to North Bay Carrickalinga. You can pick up a range of detailed maps from the V.I.C.
Yankalilla Museum – 163 Main South Road Yankalilla
The Yankalilla and District Historical Museum is located on site with the V.I.C. at 163 Main South Road Yankalilla. The Museum has an extensive collection reflecting rural and social life of the district. Themes include agriculture, mining, maritime, domestic life and trades. There is also an extensive photographic collection. The Museum is open 7 days a week, 10am to 4pm.
