Making Tracks- Gums Loop Walk (Wellington) Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

robnzh: Time for this to go.
Dampness has been a recurring problem, even after trying allegedly waterproof containers, and I don't live nearby any more.

For personal reasons I won't be able to get to GZ for some time, if anyone can pick up the cache and use it or dispose of it as they see fit I would be grateful as I don't want to leave geotrash, especially in this environment.

Thanks to all the finders.

Geocache Description:

A cache on the Gum's Loop Walk, near a swing bridge which leads to the portion of Reservoir Road which was recently opened to the public and heads to the Lower Dam. From near the GZ for my cache you have the choice of walking the Gum's Loop walk, the Reservoir Road or stopping for a picnic or any combination thereof.  This cache will hopefully encourage you to include the Wainuiomata Water Catchment in your travels. Thanks to antnich for kind permission to use the photo.

(Note that the catchment area is only open to the public from 8 a.m to dusk, see GC44JQR for more details. Remember that owing to the shadow of the hills dusk comes quite early here in winter! The time restriction does not apply to the Gums Loop walk.) The cache is a 200 ml Sistema.

The GZ area is popular with muggles with and without their dogs so please exercise lots of stealth. (dogs are permitted on a leash on the Gums Loop Track but not on the portion of Reservoir Road between the swing bridge and the Reservoir.)

Please return the cache carefully so it cannot be seen my muggles. I highly recommend going for a short stroll right to the end of the picnic area track, it's a lovely spot.
