O Projeto Genoma Humano foi declarado completo em Abril de 2003.

Recentemente, o National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI; Maryland, EUA), que abriga uma série de bases de dados relevantes para a biotecnologia e biomedicina, incluindo a biblioteca do genoma humano, foi alvo de um ataque às suas instalações, onde um grupo de indivíduos acederam ao computador principal e fizeram uma cópia da biblioteca do genoma humano.

Recently, the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI; Maryland, USA), which houses a series of databases relevant to biotechnology and biomedicine, including the human genome library, was the target of an attack on its facilities, where a group of individuals accessed the main computer and made a copy of the human genome library.

A INTERPOL está a investigar este crime com repercussões internacionais. As perícias iniciais levam os investigadores a crer que este ataque às instalações do NCBI foi executado por uma célula terrorista da Al-Qaeda, provavelmente com o objectivo de utilizar a biblioteca do genoma humano roubada para desenvolver armas biológicas mais eficazes e específicas para grupos étnicos. A investigação em curso conseguiu apurar que os terroristas envolvidos saíram dos EUA num navio porta-contentores, tendo em sua posse a pen drive utilizada no assalto. A INTERPOL também intersectou uma mensagem encriptada dos terroristas, com origem na zona dos Açores, e acredita que a mesma indica a localização actual da cópia roubada do genoma humano.

Ajude a INTERPOL a desencriptar a mensagem e a recuperar a cópia da biblioteca do genoma humano. Tenha cuidado, pois o local poderá estar vigiado por terroristas!

The INTERPOL is investigating this crime with international implications. The initial analysis leads the investigators to believe that this attack on the facilities of the NCBI was run by a terrorist cell of Al-Qaeda, probably with the aim of using the stolen human genome library to develop more effective biological weapons and specific to ethnic groups. The ongoing investigation managed to find out that the terrorists involved left the USA on a cargo boat, having in their possession the pen drive used in the assault. The INTERPOL also intersected an encrypted message from the terrorists, with origin in the Azores, and believes that it indicates the current location of the stolen copy of the human genome.

Help the INTERPOL to decrypt the message and recover the copy of the human genome library. Be careful, as the location may be guarded by terrorists!
