Geocache Description:

Come and Celebrate Groundspeak's 11th Annual CITO Weekend.
Spend some time in the country at beautiful Aldergrove Regional Park, do a good deed and pick up an official Groundspeak virtual souvenir for helping.
This is a work party but it is also a social event to meet and pull weeds with other geocachers.

CITO Event Saturday, April 20th Aldergrove Regional Park
9:45 AM SHARP - 1:00PM

This will not be a garbage pick up, we will be removing English Ivy - an invasive species.
No experience necessary, instructions will be provided

Metro Vancouver Parks has set up this work party up just for geocachers so lets show our support for the great parks and trails they provide for the enjoyment of us and others.

Meet in the parking lot of Pepindale Nurseries on 272nd St, south of 8th Ave (not the equestrian paking lot) at 9:45 AM SHARP.
Metro Vancouver Parks staff will give us instructions on what we will be doing, along with an interesting history of the park and its natural features.

We will then take a short (5 to 8 minute) walk to the site we will be working at. English Ivy is a pretty benevolent invasive species to remove but you may work up a bit of a sweat pulling it. For more about invasive species click here:

This is a family friendly event but obviously children will need to be under the supervision of an adult. As we will be working it is not appropriate to bring pets.

What to Bring:

Rain jacket (in case it rains).
Hat and sunscreen (if sunny).
Gardening gloves if you have them (otherwise they'll be provided for you)
Proper footwear: waterproof hiking boots, sturdy outdoor shoes, rubber boots. No open toe shoes, heels or dress shoes.
Wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty
Long sleeves and long pants are ideal (this will help reduce scratches from thorny plants that you may brush up against).
Water bottle
A lunch (optional)

What will be provided for you:

Gloves, tools and equipment. If you have your own gardening gloves, feel free to bring them
Snacks, juice, and water for the break

After the CITO is over, there are lots of caches along some wonderful trails in the park
