"My First Cache" Challenge
We've all been there. New to the wonders of caching, we set out to find what we can find, see what we can see. After finding "enough" (the amount differs; for me, it was around five hundred), we think we have a grasp on the hiding aspect of the game and strike out on our own to put a cache out. Some times, it works out. More often, we realize hiding a cache has its own skill set and we try again. This is my slightly idealized view of it.
This is an original challenge I created to celebrate everyone's first hide. The challenge is simple: find twenty-five individual cachers' first cache hides. Chances are, if you've been active in the game for a year or two, you've already completed the challenge. That's fine: I just hope this provides you a sentimental walk down memory lane. You may either make a bookmark list or include the caches in your log entry. Be sure to include the GC, cache name, and cacher's name, please.
For an additional challenge--or to humor me--try to use caches from cachers all around the country or world. Short of that, come up with a theme based on name, location, hider name, GC code, or whatnot. You could even include pictures of yourself at those first caches. I encourage you to have fun with the list. This is made to be an enjoyable challenge, so please have fun! If you'd like, feel free to discuss your own first hide in your log. The Cache Site
The cache is hidden in the woods. Depending upon which way you come, there might be thorns. There is a convenient way to cross the ditch if you approach from that direction. The container is the largest Lock'N'Lock I have available. Though spacious enough for swag and a good number of travel bugs, only a notebook inhabits it. The listed difficulty is in finding the cache. While not intentionally challenging, the area has a few places you could look.
The Fine Print
The cacher's first cache may well be archived. That's fine. If you found it, you can use it for the challenge. If not, you'll have to choose another cacher. Beware cache adoptions: if the hider name says something like "by xxxxxx, adopted by yyyyyy", you can't use the cache at all for this challenge (because it's not yyyyyy's first cache and we can't tell if it's xxxxxx's first one unless it says in the description). The fine print is meant to answer questions, not to give you a hard time. If I wanted to do that, I could have set the number requirement at a hundred.
