Igreja Românica de Cedofeita

A tradição aponta para a existência de um mosteiro fundado no séc. VI. Do antigo conjunto conventual sobreviveram dois capitéis calcários, já do período da Reconquista Cristã. O templo sofreu uma reforma em 1087, conservando a capela-mor arcadas cegas ainda este período. Após a sua transformação em colegiada, a igreja sofreu uma importante remodelação a partir de finais do séc. XII. À semelhança da Sé do Porto, trabalharam aqui artistas de formação coimbrã, como se comprova pelo tímpano do Agnus-Dei e pelo desenho de diversos capitéis. Posteriormente alterada, a igreja teve na década de 1930 grandes obras de restauro.

According to tradition a monastery was founded here in the 6th century. Two limestone capitals dating from the Reconquering of Iberia remain from the original building. The church was greatly altered in 1087 but the blind arches of the chancel were retained. The church was also substantially remodelled from the end of the 12th century onwards.
