ORIGINAL PAGE from 2002/03/16 (GCDC44)
After leaving the village of Gönc, about 1 km north of the village on the right side a narrow paved road starts towards the mountain.

You can follow this road for about 2 kms by car, then a barrier stops you. Get out of the car... on foot (or by bike) on the paved road to Potács háza (house) which can be recognised from two things: firstly there are no other houses around and secondly there is a sign saying "Potács háza". After the house on the right side you'll see a red stripe tourist sign. Step over the creek... follow the paved road for about 200 meters, where the red sign (an you) turn right. From here following a narrow trail you will reach the ruins of the monastery of the Pálos (St Paul's?) order. A real medieval feeling, in its original state, it hasn't been restored.

After reaching the monastery it is worth continuing on the red tourist sign , which takes you through what I think is the most beautiful valley of the Zemplén mountains, real pleasant without any climb. It takes you to the Amádé tisztás (clearing). The adventurous can continue to the ruins of Amade fort... but count on a climb of 220 meters on a real short distance!!
By the time I reached the top I really knew why this way is called the Dobogó (palpitating) path. Even my eyes palpitated! I didn't have another box for geocache with me... but the coordinates are: 48-27.366 21-19.604. (Translator's note: there is a geocache at Amade ruins now. If you don't find it on geocaching.com, visit geocaching.hu for details.)
Good Hunt!
