Geocache Description:

Return to the days of Ladies, Knights, and the Round Table with a cache you'll remember for a while!!

Deep in the heart of Oast country, this cache has breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside, vineyards and mustard fields, as well as a truly magnificent sight you will see when you get to the parking coordinates - N51 00.030' E000 32.570.

From the car park take the path round the moat trust your GPS and you'll cross a stile leading to a path leading uphill beside the vineyard.

The inspiration for the name of this cache will eventually come into view. An oast house is a freestanding kiln for drying hops, "ale" is brewed without hops, "beer" is brewed with hops added. Visit http://www.britainexpress.com/History/oast-houses.htm for more information.

The cache is a small clip top container containing the original log book, replacement log sheet and small swaps. You also have a fabulous view of the castle from here.

Another interesting titbit is that the cache is located near the Sussex border path. So, if you want to approach on foot rather than by car, it's certainly a possibility. If you continue along this path you can literally WALK AROUND SUSSEX. But be warned - it's quite a long walk...

We hope that you enjoy your visit to one of England's most popular attractions.
