Geocache Description:

This Educational Event (EduVent) is brought to you by the members of: GeocacheAlaska!

Working hard to promote Geocaching in Alaska! Please join us today!

Meet fellow geocachers and learn all about the world of Geocaching from experienced geocachers on Thursday, February 21, beginning at 6:30 p.m., at the Noel Wien Library conference room (enter the library through the main doors and turn right just before the reaching the main desk).

Tonight's main speaker is Scott Aleckson, aka SSO JOAT. He will deliver a fast-paced presentation on a wide range of Outdoor Safety topics that will include everything from First Aid to Wild Animals to Gear to Mindset for returning safely from your outdoor travels. This topic is perfect for both new and old Geocachers.

This event will be carried live over the internet via WebEx with a formal remote meeting site in Fairbanks. Contact us immediately if you can host a remote site session. GeocacheAlaska! Sourdough Members who cannot attend an event site can link in remotely. Contact us for instructions on how to do so.

Please post a "Will Attend" log on this event page to stay appraised of the final details. If we need to make any announcements about this event, all registered attendees will automatically receive an email copy of those announcements via the email you have registered with your Geocaching.com account. Adding a "Will Attend" log to this page will also assure enough hard copy handouts are printed for the event participants.

Please arrive on time so upfront administrative details can be handled and announcements made, allowing the course content to start precisely at 6:59 p.m. Kids are welcome and feel free to bring a snack to share with the group.

The GeAK Store will be available onsite immediately before and after the presentation. You may purchase items from our line of GxProxy gear as well as official GroundSpeak merchandise!

If you have requests for EduVent topics, have a topic that you would like to present to the Alaskan geocaching community, or would like to host future presentations like this one elsewhere in Alaska, please contact Education Committee Chair SSO JOAT.
