Yarrrrr! This is it .... MEGA PIRATEMANIA 2013! This will be the biggest, the best, the largest geocaching camping event in the UK this year .... you do not want to miss it! We're all set, to get on board, and sail onto the Stratford Racecourse, Stratford upon Avon, all horse races have been cancelled, only pirate ships and crew permitted for the duration.
This is a CAMPING EVENT, running from Friday to Sunday inclusive, with extensions available, and activities throughout the weekend. Your camping ticket covers your pitch fee, car parking, use of facilities and event entertainment. Day visitors are being welcomed to Piratemania - day tickets are also available from CacheShack. We will be releasing new caches for the event, and there will of course be the customary treasure chest for stashing of doubloons, geocoins and travel bugs.
There are no electric hook ups available, but we will have a communal point for charging of phones, pda's, etc.
Registration and official logging for this Mega event will only be available on the Saturday and will, as in previous years, be organised by the very lovely and extremely efficient Mollyjak, Lilian and Tony. You can of course attend at any point during the event to be able to log online.
It doesn't matter how big your crew is, how vast your brig, you will find our harbour more than adequate for your needs.
Arrrrrr! We are looking forward to seeing you all at this event. It is going to be a MEGA heap of fun!
Good clean family fun - that means fun for children AND adults! 
Arrive at Piratemania, check in and collect your tickets. Dock your vessel, and then you can just go about your business chatting to fellow pirates. Pirates have a lot in common with Geocachers. They meet up, study maps and hunt for treasure! And when they've found it, they have some scran and a jug of grog. The format for this year's Piratemania has changed - no teams this year, or doubloon hunting, but still lots of fun and frolics!

The whole weekend is "as piratey as possible" and that happens the moment you arrive at the venue. Pirate flags welcome you in, and you're greeted no doubt by a mad crew dressed up like a series of extras from Pirates of the Caribbean!
There's lots more to the event than clothing, though - there's plenty of caching to be done! 
And cakes to be eaten...
An outbreak of scurvy hit previous events, so we had to take in copious amounts of Vitamin C - unfortunately, we only had mad hot chillies!
There's always a little glitz...
and too much grog...
but mayhem all around, and plenty of smiles...

What is it?
Piratemania is officially England’s biggest annual Geocaching event. The whole ethos is good, honest piratey fun for all ages. The first event in Europe to have achieved Mega status through organic growth, it’s a testament to each and every pirate that attends that we keep on growing, year on year. Expect the unexpected!
The true spirit of Piratemania is best enjoyed in full pirate clobber, in a tent or caravan, with a glass of rum in your hand!

DIRECTIONS:
Stratford Racecourse is situated off the B439 Evesham Road out of Straftord-on-Avon.
For satellite navigation the postcode is CV37 9SE.
By road - the racecourse is approx.15 mins from Junction 15 of the M40 and 40 mins from Junction 7 of the M5. When you enter Stratford-on-Avon simply follow brown signs for racecourse and/or brown signs with a racehorse symbol on.
By rail - the racecourse is a 20 minute walk from Stratford-on-Avon train station. Stratford-on-Avon train station is serviced by trains from most destinations via Birmingham Moor Street. There is a Taxi rank at the station.
By Air - Birmingham airport is approx. 40 minute drive from the racecourse, while East Midlands airport is approx. 60 minutes by car.
