Geocache Description:

Local CITO event in support of the national Big Spring Clean.

This is our second CITO event at Larks' Hill in Warfield, Bracknell Forest, Berkshire in association with Warfield Parish Council. Accompanied children will be welcome, particularly as the area to be cleaned is away from roads.

The event will start at 10am with a short briefing and wrap up by noon and will focus on cleaning up Larks Hill, Garth Meadows and the Avery Lane and Quelm Lane byways. As we did such a great job last year we may need to wander further afield this year in search of rubbish!

There is free parking at Larks' Hill for about 15 cars. If it is full, you can also park along Newport Drive which is the southern estate access road from the nearby Quelm Park roundabout. You cannot park on Harvest Ride as it is a Freeway.

Litter picking equipment and rubbish sacks will be available, but if you have your own equipment, please bring it along. Please bring gardening gloves and wear wellies or stout boots for your safety and comfort. The area is not known for drug abuse but cannot be guaranteed to be free of sharps. Please record the position of any such hazardous waste with your GPSr. It must be disposed of separately and should not be mixed with general litter.

There are no facilities at the location, so please bring drinks, wipes etc. with you.

After the event adjournment to a nearby pub seems inevitable.

Advice:

  • Don't work alone; ensure a first aid kit is available at all times
  • Always wear thick gloves and use litter pickers
  • Store collected rubbish safely, out of the path of passers-by

Please note that you are responsible for your own safety - if in doubt, leave items after recording their locations. Warfield Parish Council will not be held responsible for injuries.

When you post a "Will Attend" log, please indicate how many people you expect in your group and how many cars you will bring. If there is high take-up, additional car parking provision may be made available.

We hope you will join us.
