The Cotswold Escarpment is blessed with many magnificent viewpoints and Coaley Peak is one of the finest. On a clear day, the view takes in a long stretch of the River Severn with The Forest of Dean, May Hill, The Malvern Hills, The Black Mountains and The Brecon Beacons beyond.
Coaley Peak is a very popular local beauty spot, especially on weekends and summer evenings. Please be prepared to exercise extreme stealth if necessary.
This is an offset puzzle cache with a little twist at the end. The puzzle element is relatively straightforward and intended to be cracked at Ground Zero with a little thought. Both locations are within the boundary of Coaley Peak, a small National Trust owned local beauty spot. Ample parking can be found at N 51°42.598 W 2°17.934. Why not bring a picnic or enjoy an ice cream when available on weekends and warm summer evenings. It's a wonderful place to bring your dog, and you can include a walk along part of the Cotswold Way. The field is also the location of Nympsfield Long Barrow, a 5000 year old neolithic burial chamber at N 51°42.616 W 2°17.965 which you can visit at the same time.
Regretfully, a Kissing Gate and uneven terrain make the search for this cache unsuitable for wheelchair users.
You are looking for a nano container, so no room for swaps or trackables. Please bring a pen and retrieval tool.
To begin, leave the carpark and walk across the field to the given co-ordinates.
At the topograph, the following should make sense. The cache is located at N a°b.c W d°e.f, where:
a = BM + G
b = BB - (SD + UT)
c = (BM x L) + (BPS - CLD - UT)
d = SRB - SH
e = SWT + FOD
f = HASL + ((FOD x (BPS + SD))
Once located, one final piece of information is required to retrieve the cache. Please note that all relevent information has been provided.
Please take care when removing the cache. It can jump out when subjected to shocks, and will be easily lost in the surrounding grass.
