Geocache Description:

Please write an interesting log, not just TFTC or a cut and paste - I enjoy reading about your visit and it's very boring to get dull logs. Be inventive!

Set at a high point above the Rippon Tor Newtake Rifle Range, water was pumped up here and stored. It was then drawn off to feed the latrines.

The rifle range was not a permanent settled base, so water usage was fairly small. There is a small pump house near to the road by the River Ashburn which may have housed the machinery to pump water up here, but few records are available.

The cache is set a little way away from the structure. Cache placed in accordance with the DNPA Geocaching Guidelines Congrats to Dartmoor Strider for FTF
