Mit diesem Cache möchten wir Euch den Grüner Park zeigen, bei dem man etwas über den Stubensand lernen und entdecken kann. Der Grüner Park ist nach den Besitzern der Brauerei Grüner benannt, die das Gelände 1866 erworben und in den Sandsteinfelsen ihre Bierkeller anlegten.
With this Cache we want to show you the Grüner Park, where you can learn and detect something regarding the Stubensand (parlour sand). The Grüner Park is named after the owners of the Brewery Grüner, who purchased the site in 1866 and built their beer cellars in the sandstone rock.
Fürth ist nicht wirklich bekannt für seine hohen Wasserfälle oder spektakulären Schluchten, wenn ihr das erwartet, dann werdet ihr hier enttäuscht sein. Was dieser Earthcache anbietet ist vielleicht auch für Euch etwas Neues über die geologischen Besonderheiten und die Erdgeschichte im Bereich von Fürth.

Fürth is not really renowned for it's high cataracts or spectacular canyons,if you are expecting this you will be disappointed here. This Earthcache offers probably for you as well something new about the geological specialties and history of the earth in the area of Fürth.
Der höchste Geländepunkt ist der Steinbruch in Burgfarrnbach mit 392,7 m ü. NN, der niedrigste Geländepunkt liegt im Regnitztal an der Stadtgrenze zu Erlangen auf 277,0 m ü NN, das Rathaus im Stadtzentrum liegt auf 294,9 m ü NN. Hier befinden wir uns bei ca 305 m ü. NN auf einem Hügel aus Blasensandstein.
The highest ground point is the quarry in Burgfarrnbach with 392,7 m NHN, the lowest ground point is in the valley of the Regnitz at the city boundary to Erlangen on 277,0 m NHN, the city hall in the city centre is at 294,7 m NHN. Here we are at approx. 305 m NHN on a hill made of blister sandstone.
Als Blasensandstein wird eine etwa 20 bis 23 Meter mächtige Gesteinsschicht bezeichnet, die aus rotbraunen bis weißgrauen, fein- bis mittelkörnigen Sandsteinen besteht, die sich mit zwischengeschalteten roten, grünen und violetten Lettenlagen aufbaut. Namengebend sind die blasenartigen Hohlräume im Sandstein, die durch Herauswitterung von Tonnestern und dolomitischen Bestandteilen entstanden.
Blister Sandstone is a rock formation of 20 to 23 meters, which is generally made of red-brown to white-grey sandstone which is fine to medium grained, which is intercalated with red, grean and violet gossan. Reason for the Name are the blisterlike holes in the sandstone, which were made by weathered out of clay ester and dolomite parts.
Und nun ein Infohappen für die Experten: Geologisch gehört Fürth zum Fränkischen Schichtstufenland. Die zwischen 200 und 360 Metern mächtigen Keuperschichten entstanden im Trias vor etwa 225 bis 180 Millionen Jahren. Während der Eiszeit (Pleistozän) vor ca. 2 Millionen Jahren und in der Nacheiszeit (Holozän), die vor ca 10.000 Jahren begann, wurde der eben schon erwähnte Blasensandstein, der zu der Keuperschicht gehört, durch die Bildung unterschiedlich ausgeprägter Talterrassen "überformt".
And now a special piece of information for the experts: Geologically Fürth belongs to the Franconian escarpments. The Keuper which are between 200 and 360 meter big developed in the Triassic approximately 225 to 180 million years ago. During the ice age (Pleistocene) approx. 2 million years ago and in the post-glacial period (Holocene), which began approx. 10.000 years ago, the just mentioned blister sandstone (Blasensandstein), which belongs to the Keuper, was overformed by the building of various distinct valley terraces.
Der leichte Zugang zum Blasensandstein hatte für die hiesige Bevölkerung eine große praktische und auch wirtschaftliche Bedeutung. An dem Hang vor Euch wurde von den "Sandweibern" seit dem Mittelalter aus dem Blasensandstein der begehrte Scheuersand gewonnen, der zum Reinigen von Geschirr, Besteck, Holzdielen, Holztischen und -bänken verwendet wurde. Um ihn zu gewinnen, wurden kleine Gänge gegraben, die bis zu 20m tief in den Hang hinein gingen, aber ebenso direkt an der Oberfläche entnommen. Scheuersand wurde überall in Deutschland gewonnen, so auch hier in Fürth.
The easy access to the blister sandstone had a high practical and economical impact for the locals. On the slope in front of you the Sandwomen produced since the Middle Age from the blister sandstone the much sought after rubbing sand, which was used to clean the dishes, cutlery, timber floor boards, timber tables and seating banks. In order to produce it, small aisles, which reached up to 20 m into the slope were dug, but also.it was taken from the surface directly. Rubbing Sand was produced everywhere in Germany, amongst others in Fürth.
Vor Ort könnt Ihr klar das helle Band erkennen, dass sich durch den Fels zieht. An einigen Stellen kann man sogar erkennen/erahnen, wo der Scheuersand abgebaut wurde.

Durch den Hang zieht sich ein deutlich sichtbares Band des hellen und feinen Sandsteins. Ein kleiner Überhang steht darüber hervor.
